BLACK SNAKE MOAN by Idle Warship feat. IBRAHIM BAAITH @ RED MODELS NYC

I love this group - Idle Warship. Its a trio composed of rapper Talib Kwele, singer Res, and Graph Nobel. Res and model Ibrahim Baaith were at one time the campaign faces of urban clothing line Ecko. Ibrahim makes a appearance in their video Black Snake Moan. I love this song...its heavily rotated in my ipod playlist.

I remember before I moved toNY  I had Res and Ibrahim's Ecko ads on my wall and me and my friends use to watch his promo video when he was with Q models. He ended the video by walking and doing a Michael Jackson spin and dance move. I thought he had so much personality. I was so hyped when he signed to Red models and they asked me polish up his look. I feel special knowing it was my images that set to tone for his reinvention.

SOMETHING ABOUT MARY: introducing MARY FRENCH

Mary French is not a model. she is a sound engineer who just wanted some nice photos of herself.

note: I styled her myself - with some vintage things I bought mixed with her own dresses.
The coolest thing was topping her red dress with my red sleeping bag as a evening coat.

I really enjoyed working with Mary. Coming from Memphis, I was use to working with body types  that are fuller than the size 0-2 that models here in new york are usually. I actually was glad to have a woman with a "real" body in front of my camera.

introducing CARL ANTHONY AGAPIT @ Re:Quest NYC/ Natalie Men Paris

Carl Anthony Agapit photographed by Tarrice Love

I had the opportunity to work with newcomer Carl Anthony Agapit who is currently represented by Re:Quest Model Mgmt. in NYC and Natalie in Paris. Carl is currently one of the faces in the United Colors of Bennetton campaign. He is has an extremely beautiful face and his body is slender but cut.

Carl is from the island of Martinique and speaks fluent French. His English was very broken and it was new for me to work with a model i had a hard time speaking to because i love to talk, lol. Despite the language barrier, he took direction well and we was able to create some hot shit. I really enjoyed working with Carl and I can't wait to see more of him editorially and commercially.

RIHANNA'S RUDE BOY - BRANDON HARTLEY @ Wilhelmina LA

Brandon Hartley (photographed by Tarrice Love)
styling by MacGuyver

With a balance mix of masculinity and POW and a set of cheekbones that are razor sharp Brandon Hartley is one to watch. Brandon is based in Los Angeles and represented by Wihelmina LA. He hit me up during the summer thru facebook when he was going to be in NYC seeking representation. He has an amazing energy with a sick body. Check him out getting his grind on with popstar Rihanna in her rude boy video.

ONE MORE THING: 2 thumbs up to Brandon for having really nice feet. These guys coming from the west coast are making these NY fellas look bad from the ankles down.

... CAN WE UNITE AGAIN?

after listening to the latest leak from Niki Minaj entitled Roman's Revenge feat. Eminem just disappointed me. I think  Ms. Minaj is very talented and definitely at the top of her game. I think it was rather lame and unnecessary to do a diss record eve of her album release, especially against another fellow female mcee... another black female.
We are apart of an era when people believe it is "customary" to tear each other down in order to shine. I am just so tired of watching us cut each other's throats for crumbs while the real owners of media and entertainment reap the benefits. I just wanted people to see that it is possible to shine brighter and stronger...together.

featuring Queen Latifah, Yo-Yo, MC Lyte, Left Eye, Nefertiti, Petra, and Me' shell Ndegeocello

I just wanted people remember when the female mcees came together and did music promoting sisterhood, unity and support for each other. Check out when sista mcees use to support each other.

This is what we need again....

Chris Gayla (photography: Tarrice Love)

Chris Gayla @ Major Model Mgmt is definitely one to watch. He's currently sailing thru the air in the Lacoste campaign and editorials in Contributing Editor, Wound and V-Man magazines. I enjoyed working with Chris. He has alot of good energy and personality and I tried to convey that in a fashiony way with the images we shot.

More to come with Chris Gayla.

pictorial #012 - I LIKE IT RAW

models: Courtney Steele, Sarah Caroline, Makin Curry
(photography: Tarrice Love)
styling: McGuyver

the following images may be a bit disturbing...but its better to look at images and feel something than feel nothing at all.

Long before Lady GaGa hit the scene with her infamous meat dress, I shot this meat series featuring models Makin Curry, Sarah Caroline, and Courtney Steele. I shot Makin Curry @ Next Models NYC  first...attempting to create a set of images that would really help him stand out at castings. Unfortunately the agency never included the images in his book. They wanted to keep his presentation as commercial and safe as possible. Most agencies aren't quick to stand behind images that push the envelope because they don't want to offend the client or stir controversy. My style of shooting leans more toward artistic and less towards "fashion"...."fashion" is more about selling and using art to sell products. I'm more interested in using art and style to say something about our society and how we view the world today.

I decided to include models Courtney Steele@301 model mgmt. and Sarah Caroline @ Images in this series meat shots...

behind the scene: me with the meat for Sarah's shoot

I had to use 2 pieces of steak for Courtney's meat shots, lol!

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

i instantly fell in love with this video.
i love the beginning when the kids are in the cafeteria dressed the same, eating the same food. It sort of is a statement about how everyone is trying the be the same...consuming the same things. and here she comes dipping her long braids into cans of paint and flinging them around decorating her surroundings "Jackson Pollock" style.
The world is mono-same and it is time to hit it off with some well needed burst of color and energy.

PRETTY BOY SWAG: INTRODUCING ANTHONY WHITE @ FORD NYC

Anthony White (photographed by Tarrice Love)

Ford Model NYC contacted me to do a shoot with Anthony White with the hopes that I could help put some spark in his book. Anthony was a very successful teen model and is currently a successful ($$$) catalog/ commercial print model. Ford wants to transition him into a equal successful fashion/ editorial model. Anthony is a very beautiful young man with almost androgynous features.

I decided to keep everything simple and clean so people could focus on Anthony's beauty. My alter-ego (McGuyver) styled him using a vintage suit and customized t-shirting.

It was great working with Anthony. On top of him being so "pretty," he took direction well and had a good energy about him. I definitely look forward to working with him again.
