INSPIRATION: Jean Michel Basquiat

I love the paintings of Jean Michel Basquiat. I am more intrigued by his life story.

This is the trailer of the new documentary Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child. The film is directed by Tamra Davis and features never-before seen footage of the prolific artist painting, talking about his art, and existing in the two years prior to his death in 1988. check it out - its on Netflix

  1. I saw the new documentary... pretty interesting. I never really liked Jean-michel Basquiat but his work opened the eyes of many and was groundbreaking, leading the way for new artists and styles. I can't understand why he assumed the role of a black person when he clearly was puerto rican and haitian... Some of his work revealed hispanic influences so people had to know he was a hispanic islander.

I love that you did a piece on Jean Michel Basquiat. His life story to his artistry I've been in love with since the 7th grade. I remember the day before my move to NY I watched the movie based on his life and I said to myself, "he made something great of life by using his skill, his mean hustle which means I can make it in the same city using my skill, my mean hustle" Jean Michel has been my inspiration ever since.
