006: introducing Lamar James @ identities models nyc

2 comments:

before i came to new york and started working with models with the top agencies, i use to have a collage on my wall called "The Dream List"." it was a compliation of all the models and entertainers i hoped to work with one day. Lamar James was one of those models. I had his Reebok ad, his Fila ad, and his Rocawear ad on my wall. the first time i shot with him I was so nervous, i couldn't talk or really give him direction. I would have never imagined working with him or just hanging out chillin, talking shit. Lamar is a cool dude and great to work with. and he is also one of the few models who i don't have to do much retouching....his skin is flawless. i hate him....lol!

005: WHITE GIRL CLEAN feat. Shylow @ identities models nyc

No comments:

i been working with shylow every since she first arrived to nyc from the bahamas. one of the things i realized that she didn't have in her port were those clean, classic, Gap-like images that white girls always have in their portfolios. Black girls are usually photographed images where they are over glamorous with crazy makeup - anything that's far removed from the classic girl-next-door look. check it out ...i think i hit it on the mark :)

I started "white girl clean" partly because i didn't have a team ( hair/ makeup/ stylist) for the girls i was working with. I also noticed that black girls didn't have those clean, classic pics wear jeans and t-shirts in their portfolios like white models. here are other examples of "white girl clean"

starting from the top - Krystle@ wilihemina nyc, Nazri @ la models, Channing a, loren@ red nyc, and India

004: introducing Anthony Payne

here is an amazing unsigned model from philly i found on myspace. Anthony Payne was great to work with - very professional, prompt and brought some very nice clothes to play with. hehehee! He took direction well and seemed very comfortable. i could feel his trust in my abilities and that made me feel good. check out some of the shots. i look forward to him coming back to work with me again soon.....

003: introducing Shawn Sutton @ red models nyc

photographed and styled by Tarrice love - my version of bike messenger meets wall street, lol

yesterday I did a photo test with Shawn Sutton @ red models nyc. i have worked with a lot of promising new talent at red models, and he definitely falls in to that catagory of ones to watch. i wanted to do some amazing pics outside against brooklyn sky, but unfortunately it rained...all evening. because i didn't have a stylist nor did he bring clothes for the test, i did some very simple jeans/ t-shirt stuff and beauty shots. he has an amazing face and he takes direction very well. he's only been modeling for a few weeks and look forward to seeing him grow. i have a good eye for talent and he's definitely is one to watch. i plan to collaborate with him again in a few weeks to create serious hotness and hopefully this time it won't rain.

002: brian peters @ ford models nyc

1 comment:
i recently set up a photoshoot with one of my favorite models from memphis, brian peters when he was in town for a big ralph lauren casting. while he has here, i introduced him to another of my favorite models, fellow southerner rumando kelly. i shot both of them outside in the streets of brooklyn. it was fun and frustrating because it was the first time working with them i couldn't capture the shot i was trying to get. it was also the first time in a long time i worked with a stylist, sergio dior. below is brian telling you about the shoot....
